Date: 12/28/2024
Location: Route 30, Townshend VT

Description: On December 28th, 2024 at approximately 0425 hours, a deputy driving a 2019 Ford Interceptor SUV slide off Route 30 near Stephenson Curve in Townshend, striking a phone pole, descending a steep embankment where the vehicle rolled over. Black ice is a preliminary cause. Deputy Thomas Bessette was transported by Rescue Inc to Grace Cottage Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released.

The Vermont State Police are investigating the crash. Townshend Fire, Rescue Inc, Green Mountain Power, and Scott Brooks Towing responded to the scene.
