Description: On September 5th, 2024, at approximately 2152 hours, a deputy with the Windham County Sheriff's Office was clearing an unrelated call in the area of Morse Brook Rd. in the Town of Westminster, when he located two individuals in the roadway on Morse Brook Rd. with apparent minor injuries.
Investigation revealed that the individuals were involved in a motor vehicle crash at this location. A 2012 Nissan Frontier was located off the roadway and down an embankment on Morse Brook Rd. It was found that one of the individuals in the roadway was the operator and was identified as Ayse Ak, of Saxtons River, VT. Ak showed signs of alcohol impairment. Investigation revealed that Ak lost control of the Nissan, went off the travel portion of the roadway, crossed back over Morse Brook Rd, and then down an embankment on the opposite side of the road.
After Ak was cleared by emergency medical responders, she was screened for impairment. Ak was found to be impaired by alcohol, rendering her unsafe to operate a motor vehicle. Ak was arrested by the deputy and transported to the Bellows Falls Police Department for processing. After processing, Ak was released to a sober adult and issued a criminal citation to appear on 10/1/24. The Windham County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by officers of the Bellows Falls Police Department, a trooper from the Vermont State Police-Westminster Barracks, Westminster Fire and Rescue, Walpole Ambulance, and Rod's Towing.
